We have prayed and God has answered!!  We are proud and happy to announce that we have called Mike Taylor as our pastor.  Mike, Caroline and Luke were with us Easter weekend and we had a great time.  We are looking forward to them being in Alva to minister alongside us beginning June 1st.  For more information about them, click here.

First Baptist Church

I wanted to share with you some special dates on our calendar so you can begin to make plans:

Our new pastor, Mike Taylor, and his family will be with us beginning June 1st.  We are very excited and anticipating their arrival.  In the mean time, there is ongoing work in the parsonage to finish the remodeling.  If you would like to help in any way, please contact the church office by calling 327-2623.

Men of Honor Simulcast Challenge is scheduled in the church auditorium for Friday night, June 15th, from 6:00 - 8:00.  This will be a challenge to be strong men of honor for Christ and for your families.  We want to encourage all the men or our community to attend this Father's Day weekend Men's Ministry opportunity.  The event is hosted by the Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia, and led by Pastor Michael Catt and the cast of the movie, Courageous.

Vacation Bible School dates are June 24-28.  The theme this year is Amazing Wonders Aviation and will have an aeronautical flavor.  All children entering Kindergarten through 6th Grade are invited to come take a flight with us to explore the amazing wonders of our God!

The theme for Falls Creek is Undiscovered Territories and our week to attend is July 16-21.  Falls Creek is for students who have finished the 6th grade through 12th grade.  You need to get registered and your camp fee paid early.  To do so, get in touch with our Youth Minister, Derrick Thomas, come by or call the church office.

Kids Camp (for children who will be going into the 4th, 5th or 6th Grade) will be July 23-25.  This camp is held at a campground just north of Vici and is great fun.  Contact the church office for registration information.
